Captivating Scents

Geia sas koritsia 'ko-ree-tsee-ah'(girls)! Today i am doing a quick post on the perfumes that i own. Starting with as you can see Curious by Britney Spears. Curious is probably one of my all-time favorite perfumes since i was about 14yrs. It has never gotten old for me, which surprises me cuz i get bored easily. :D Not only that but check out this amazing old fashion style perfume jar; lovvve it!

Next up we have [from the left] Wild Honeysuckle by Bath&BodyWorks, Maria Sharapova, DiaNoche Ocean by Daisy Fuentes, & Live Lux by J. Lo. My favorite out of those is Live Lux then Maria Sharapova. My least favorite is DiaNoche Ocean; it gets annoying & sometimes gives me a headache. :(

Now for more B. Spears, [from the left] Midnight Fantasy, Wild by Ralph Lauren, & Fantasy by B. Spears. My favorite of those is Wild, then Fantasy, as Midnight Fantasy sometimes gives me a headache one again :(

Even MORE B. Spears what can i say :D [from left] Curious In Control, Fantasy, Midnight Fantasy, Curious. Curious In Control is my favorite B. Spears perfume its amazing!

Now for Victoria's Secret!! Starting with [left] Very Sexy, Sexy Little Things, & Very Sexy Hot. My favorite being Very Sexy Hot, then Very Sexy, then Sexy Little Things. I love VS scents they are incredible! ...& oh so sexy haha ;D

And finally we have more VS, Dream Angels Heavenly & Dream Angels Desire. Desire is my favorite; great smell! Like i said VS is oober sexy & you feel empoewered when you wear it. I also have 2 other perfumes i love; Chance by Chanel & Kenzo Amour perfume only they are a little too pricey for me. So if you're looking for something new all of these scents are great.

What's your fav perfume?

Diddy Didn’t Happen

Last Friday, I was scheduled to be backstage at Sean John*. I was super excited to be attending the closing show of New York Fashion Week.

I fantasized that Diddy and I would meet, he’d be captivated by my charm, and then whisk me away to the star-studded soiree.

It would play out like that R. Kelly/Jay Z collabo:

After the show it's the after party and
After the party is the hotel lobby and
After the Belve then it's probably Cris…

But that didn’t happen. In fact, the closest I got to the Sean John show was a pizzeria on the corner of 22nd Street & 6th Ave. I was grabbing a bite there when I got a call from MAC telling me that there were no female models in the show, and therefore no need for MAC makeup. I was bummed, but also exhausted from my travels; so I caught an early train back to Philly.

So sorry, beauties. I know you were anxious for me to dish the Diddy dirt. C'est la vie.

If you absolutely need a Puffy fix, Glamour.com has an article entitled "Diddy knows pretty," in which the hip-hop mogul/designer shares his observations on what makes a woman irresistible. Here’s an excerpt:

Why he named his perfume Unforgivable Woman:
“It’s about being unapologetic. It’s about having swagger. Confidence is such a sexy, sexy quality.”

Makeup trend he’s so over:
“Red lipstick just isn’t working for me. It might be good for an awards show, but it’s not hot to kiss. I love natural lip color—that’s always a good look!”

Biggest beauty obsession:
“Sugar Bath Cubes by Fresh. I take a bath every night. I love the way they make my skin feel. I have very soft skin—go ahead, touch it!”

For the rest of the interview, click here.

*Is it just me, or does the Sean John Fall 2008 collection look a little effeminate? I'm not judging...just sayin'.

One Of A Kind

A few weeks ago, I was super-excited to receive an email from Kathleen Dreier, letting me know that Daneen was in the mail and on its way to my doorstep. Confused? Let me back up. Kathleen is the owner of Esens Custom Fragrances, and has been creating custom fragrances for 17 years. Daneen is the perfume she blended especially for me.

I have to admit that, at first, I was a little skeptical about purchasing personalized fragrance over the Internet. I’m indecisive and difficult to please – I could spend an hour in Sephora smelling all of the perfumes, and walk out empty-handed because nothing’s blown me away or because it’s impossible to choose.

But Kathleen was a pleasure to work with. From the start, I communicated directly with her via email. She asked me to answer a few simple questions – about my personality, interests, and scents that I like. From these answers (and a couple photos I attached to the email - for good measure), she created Daneen.

My custom scent is a blend of ten notes, including Ambrette, Magnolia, Vanilla Bean, and Vetiver. Somehow Kathleen managed to concoct a fragrance that I adore – which is amazing because, most of the time, I don’t even know what I like.

A ¼ ounce bottle of pure essence (a 9- to 12-month supply) costs $100, and includes a handwritten art card that describes each of the oils she's personally selected for your fragrance. All Esens perfume blends are original, and no scent design is ever duplicated…so you can be assured that your fragrance is one of a kind – just like you. Esens also keeps your personalized formula permanently on file for reorders - offered at 45% of the original cost!

The turnaround time for personalized perfumes is 7 to 10 days from order to delivery. And Kathleen guarantees your satisfaction is guaranteed; if you’re not happy with your fragrance, she will reformulate your blend.

Valentine’s Day is only three weeks away, ladies. So start dropping hints now.

Wang Wants You To Wake Up And Smell The Bouquet

According to Women's Wear Daily:

Vera Wang is tossing Bouquet, her newest fragrance, into this spring's fragrance fray. The scent, coming in April, will be available in about 500 specialty stores in the U.S.

And that's not all that Wang has in the way of florals this spring: Flower Princess, a follow-up to her successful Princess launch, is also set to be released in April.

Fragrance 4-1-1

Burberry will release its sixth fragrance, ‘The Beat,’ in March. The women’s perfume is described as a “sparkling woody floral scent,” and incorporates three principal notes - Ceylon tea, iris accord, and bluebell. Other key notes include bergamot, cardamom, pink pepper, mandarin, white musk, vetiver and cedarwood.

If industry rumblings are any indication, Justin Timberlake may be the face of the next Parfums Givenchy men's fragrance. Here’s to hoping the SexyBack singer and French fashion house can get in sync.

Actor Matthew McConaughey will be the face of Dolce & Gabbana's upcoming fragrance, The One For Men, set to hit shelves in March 2008. “I like spicy-oriental notes and we’ve never done these types of fragrances, it’s a little warmer than our other men’s scents,” said Stefano Gabbana. "I wanted it to be a classic — not a banal classic, but a classic men's fragrance that would last for years and be the type of scent that women adore," he added. The fragrance will have notes of grapefruit, coriander, basil, cardamom, ginger, orange blossom, cedarwood, ambergris, and tobacco.

Jennifer Lopez will launch her next fragrance, Deseo, in February 2008. Deseo was inspired by a combination of smells in the singer’s own garden, and is the first of Lopez’s fragrances to reference her Latin heritage. The fragrance’s notes include bamboo leaves, yuzu, bergamot, freesia, star jasmine, pink geranium flower, orange blossom, mimosa, warm amber, oak moss, musk, sandalwood, cedar, patchouli and mineral accord. And Deseo’s bottle was designed to resemble a “diamond in the rough.”

Spoiled Pretty's Holiday Gift Guide

I know that many of you have started (and finished) your holiday shopping by now. So I apologize for the delay of this post. However, if you’re a procrastinator like me – you figure that there’s thirteen perfectly good days left to pick up what hasn’t already been snatched off the shelves. So, to the slackers of the world (you know who you are)…this one’s for you.

This is Spoiled Pretty’s Holiday Gift Guide, ’07 edition.

Fragrance is a very personal thing. Unless you know the recipient’s favorite scent (or he/she has requested something specific), fragrance can be a tricky gift. Even if you know the “notes” that the person likes, perfumes and colognes react to differently on everyone…so it could be a real hit, or a big miss. Instead, try The Sephora Scent Sampler; it includes samples of popular fragrances, plus a gift voucher of equal value that can be redeemed at any Sephora store for a full size bottle of any one of the samples included. Available for her (includes 10 samples) and for him (includes 8 samples).

Makeup, again, is a very personal thing. I typically don’t recommend buying cosmetics unless you really know the recipient. But even then…I mean, would you want someone just buying you some random makeup? I didn’t think so. Me neither. But if you insist on doing so, opt for a palette. Around the holidays, makeup companies flood the market with kits and gift sets in a plethora of price ranges. So it shouldn’t be hard finding one. The key, though, is to find one that includes products and colors that are universally flattering. You really can’t go wrong with Sephora's Supermodel Kit, a glamourous gift set filled with products worn by top models at Fashion Week Live. The set includes Stila Lip Glaze, Make Up For Ever Diamond Shadow, Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, Smashbox O-GLOW, Dior Diorshow Mascara, and Sephora Blush Me! - all in a chic black sequined Sephora clutch. Or you could buy a lip gloss set. I love Stila’s Gift of Glaze set because it includes two limited-edition shades (nutmeg spice, candy cane) and favorites grapefruit, apricot, vanilla, and brown sugar. What woman would balk at that? You’d be hard pressed to find one.

Now onto bath & body products…there are so many pre-assembled gift sets out there right now – and while it’s a very sensible gift, some are just so generic and cheesy (especially those that come in a ceramic sleigh or awful wicker concoction). So look for sets with unique, pretty packaging. I absolutely adore the Sugar Tart Gift Set from Fresh; this festive set includes Sugar Lemon Eau de Parfum, Sugar Lemon Bath and Shower Gel, and Sugar Lemon Body Lotion in an elegant red, gold, and silver box. It’s a Sephora exclusive and it’s already sold out online – so visit your local store and hope you get lucky.

Finally, there’s gift cards. They’re practical and all, but c’mon…nothing says “I don’t really know you” or “I didn’t give this munch thought” quite like a gift card. All it takes is an extra step or two to show the recipient you truly care. Try a gift card to a nail salon, along with L’Occitane’s Lavender Hand Cream and a bottle of Pink Quartz Nail Shimmer from Bobbi Brown. Or slip a gift card into a chic cosmetic clutch, like this festive one from Stephanie Johnson.

These simple suggestions should help you find the gift guaranteed to spoil someone (or yourself) pretty. Happy shopping!

The Commitment-Phobe Finds A Fragrance

I recently introduced my sister, Lauren, to Comptoir Sud Pacifique’s line of fragrances – and was surprised by how strongly she responded to their Vanille Citrus scent. You see, Lauren is an incredibly fickle perfume user who never buys full-sized bottles because she can’t commit to just one.

The warmth of Vanille Citrus is nicely balanced by the zest of candied lemon peel, Brazilian orange, and blackcurrant syrup. With this sexy, playful perfume, you’ll be sure to stand out in a crowd of too-serious winter scents.

My sister raved about the smell, which she described as something akin to “vanilla lemon bars.” “It makes you want to eat yourself,” Lauren joked. “Vanille Citrus is not really a perfume to wear during a night out, but makes a great everyday scent – or a nice alternative to your favorite fragrance.”

Sold at Sephora and Amazon.com.
