My Eurovision Favs 2010

Geia sas! So Eurovision song contest is going on right now & here are my favorites so far:

(in no particular order) here is Cyprus. Nice song but who is this guy who looks British & has a non-Cypriot name?? I'm a little confused by that but he did well: (Edit, i later found out he IS British LOL but i bet they didn't use a Cypriot because the Greeks & Turks can't agree; shocking lol)

Next ISRAEL, beautiful song. He SHOULD have won no doubt! I love the language i think its beautiful & knowing its the language of God is really cool to me. But anywho the song is great & this guy has a lot of passion when he sings:

Ireland, this was such a sweet, pretty song i thought! Bravo Ireland!

And of course Greece (i'm not a trader after all lol) but Greece can do SO much better i wasn't thrilled when i heard this was the song that was chosen; it's just ok i think. I've seen them win with much better, but at least this one makes you wanna dance!

.........................

I wanted so badly to like Armenia's but i really wasn't impressed:

Whats your favorite of these or another?

Dark Chocolate Pumpkin Muffins

Geia sas everyone! My mom & i made these yummy muffins & i wanted to share them with you guys. They are also a good source of fiber thanks to the pumpkin.

Dark Chocolate Pumpkin Muffins

1 can of pumpkin

1 box of dark chocolate cake mix

1 Tbs cocoa powder

1/2 cup water

Mix & bake at 350F for 15-18mins.

They are also 1 Weight Watchers point, for anyone that applies to.

I also wanted to note that there is a pumpkin shortage here, i don't know about anywhere else but you can't buy pumpkin in the stores until fall they say because of flooding they rotted or something like that. So we got this one last can from a friend. No more unless we buy it organic off Amazon by the case which is $28.

Klorane Dry Shampoo Review

Geia sas ladies! What a beautiful day it is today! Unfortunately i have been sick lately but i am slowly recovering. Oh & i also want to say a big hello to my new followers! I can't believe i have 25 now! If anyone ever has any requests, i'm all ears!

Well today i'm reviewing the Klorane dry shampoo with oat milk. By now most people have heard of dry shampoo & there are more & more brands but it’s the same concept; absorbing the oil. It’s obviously not something you would use on a daily basis or something you could substitute for washing in the shower but it is great for when you have no time & need to wash your hair.

For example my hair naturally has a lot of wave & is long & thick, so when i straighten my hair i want it to last a while since it takes so long to do. So i would use this if i washed my hair on Wed. night but Friday i didn't want to wash it before going somewhere.
I bought it HERE at Sephora for $18. So let's see what Sephora has to say about it:
What it is:
A dry shampoo with an aerosol pump dispenser.
What it does: Lets you clean hair without water. This dry shampoo is based on softening, protective oat extract, cyclodextrins, and natural polysaccharides (micronised powders with very oil-absorbing properties) to clean the hair without washing, as often as required. The hair regains volume and lightness within minutes.

So you get the basic idea, for more info go to the Sephora link.

Directions:
1.So you shake the can & spray it on your roots & oily areas like the crown. (for us brunettes don't worry about the white color on your dark hair it will go away)
2.Next you let is sit for 2mins to absorb the oil.

3.Then you take a hair brush & run it through spreading it out & blending it in. I also used a comb which worked well.

Now for my review, 1st i think this product is too expensive for how small it is, however it does work well. The smell is ok, i wouldn't say it’s a good smell but it’s not too bad either & not overpowering. Next time i buy a dry shampoo i will look for something cheaper, but again i do think it’s a good product just a little pricey for its size. But it really is a nice little tool to have in your collection.
(product was purchased with my own $$ & im not affiliated w/ the company)

My Louie, he's the cutest! Though i'm pretty biased. lol

LUNA, Vampires, & more

Geia sas lovely people! First i want to start out by saying Blogger needs to allow more editing options for posts. For example as far as text & turning images because it always turns mine like the Luna bar below:

Anyway yes i had a LUNA bar today which was amazingly delicious in chocolate raspberry.

I love that they taste so good & have nutrition your body needs at the same time. Its such a treat to eat them unlike so many other 'protein/nutrition bars'. I do wish they were a bit cheaper; they are 98 cents a piece at Walmart. I also never noticed before that on the package it says 'the whole nutrition bar for women' i didn't know they were for women but i don't mind (since i am a woman LOL).

Doesn't that look yummy?!?!

Last week was the season finally of the Vampire Diaries *insert sad face* , but i for some reason thought there was still 1 more episode, how sad.

I love that show, me & my younger sister watch it everything Thursday night; we are kinda in love with Damon Salvatore lol (played by Ian Somerhalder in case anyone is wondering).

So on to a yummy recipe:

I also made Cajun Sweet potatoes along with dinner tonight. The recipe is just cut your sweet potatoes into small triangles (or whatever shape)

mix in a bowl:

Paprika

Onion powder

Garlic powder

Thyme

Cayenne

Black pepper

(i also used Penzey's Cajun seasoning)

then add the potatoes to the bowl & add olive oil, then mix till coated well. Then place on a cookie sheet, bake for 50mins at 375 F.

Delicious!!

Sad News

Geia sas, most of you have seen the "Pray for Chrissie" button in my sidebar, some of you read about her & know her story, & for thsoe who don't HERE is her mom's blog. A basic over-view is she was adopted from Serbia by a Texas couple & she had open-heart surgery and its been a rocky road for this little one & i prayed for her everyday. I really though she was gonna make it, after all she had such an amazing testimony. But i am sad to report yesterday little Chrissie passed on, the only good thing to say is that her pain is gone & she is with Jesus now. But i hope you will pray for her family, especsially her mom Lorraine. I cried when i read THIS post from her. My heart goes out & I pray that God will give the Patterson family peace, comfort & strength.

"...and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

Herb Garden

Geia sas everyone! I know its been a little while since i posted but i was busy finishing up my finals, which by the way i PASSED!! I am so excited & relieved to have passed them...& now i have more time to blog & do stuff i actually want to do! But i have also been busy planting my herb garden which is coming along nicely. It is mostly done except i still have to plant dill & possibly sage. But so far i have Greek Oregano, Thyme, Chives, Sweet Basil, Mammoth Basil, Parsley, & Cilantro. All of which are heavily used in my house. I had the idea for an herb garden right outside my patio door, which required the pulling/digging up of some really tough bushes. But we worked hard & dug them up as well as placing a brick wall on one side (because its on a hill). My mom has a big garden near the back of our yard where she had Oregano, Thyme, & Chives plants that she covered & made it all winter, so we moved those to the herb garden (the others are all seeded).

Above are closer up pictures of the Greek Oregano, Thyme, & Chives because my pictures are not up close. I will take more picture of the other herbs as they grow but for now here is what it all looks like.

*We have a few marigolds in there to keep bugs away.

CHIVES (isn't it huge?!)
***Needless to say it smells amazing when you're standing over that garden!

* a shot of the above ground plants. the brick wall is still being finished.

I used all 3 for lunch today, i made a yummy spicy pasta & it was delish!

More about these spices in my home:

I adore chives in just about anything so its beyond useful & budget friendly to have them growing outside your door.

Then oregano which means 'joy of the mountain' in Greek is the joy of our dinner table so many nights, adding its distinct flavor to pasta, meats, bread, sauces, & more.
Thyme is a pretty plant in my opinion & adds incredible flavor to many dishes, just throw a few sprigs in the crock pot with what ever meat dish you have in there & its great.

So i will update on my herb garden probably in a few weeks when things are really growing.

Anyone else have an herb garden? If so whats in it?

Who should win the Special Oscar in 2011?

I've predicted the choices for the past few years: Robert Altman, Sidney Lumet, Ennio Morricone, Roger Corman, Lauren Bacall, Jerry Lewis and Gordon Willis. I'm starting to wonder if someone in the Academy reads my blog! If so, and even if not, I offer my ideal choices for Special Oscars this coming awards year:(1) Frederick Wiseman, director/producer of masterful documentaries Titicut Follies,

My 20 Greatest Moviegoing Experiences

I often wonder if we forget who we were and where we were and who we were with when we see movies. This is something that might remind you how to make a list of the moviegoing experiences that most affected you--and with the above criteria. 2001: A Space Odyssey (a formative film for me; saw it at Atlanta's sorely missed Rhodes Theater in 1979 with the woman I credit with teaching me how to read

Coastal Scents Camo Quad Review

Geia sas ladies! I am soo incredibly happy it is the weekend, this had been a tough week for me as far as school & stress levels. But i have been meaning to do this review so i finally have a minute to do so. It is of course a review as the title says of the Coastal Scents Camo Quad concealer which i have in Medium. First if you have never heard of Coastal Scents its this great website that has pretty cheap beauty products; mostly make-up & brushes. Click HERE for a link to the website.

There are 3 different shades of the Camo Quads (obviously they're quads because of the 4 concealers)
Light, Medium, & Dark. They all have a white color for highlighting, which i find too white for me but there are other uses for it, for example mixing with a darker color to get your perfect shade. In fact you can mix them all, which i do sometimes.
There is also a Color Corrector Camo Quad which is suppose to balance out things like red tones, i still haven't ordered this yet but i would like to try it. I frequently use the two darker colors in the Medium on a daily basis. I really like this concealer in fact i would say its the best i've ever tried. But i have heard one YouTuber say "Its soo creamy its like butter" i would not agree with that statement, i think it has a nice creaminess as far as concealers go but its not buttery. Just so you know. But again its a good product & i LOVE that the price is only $7.95, how awesome is that?!

So HERE is a link to the Camo Quads, i recommend them.

Anyone tried a Coastal Scents product?

Have a great day!

All things Cinco de Mayo!

Feliz Cinco de Mayo! I am doing a post today on all things Cinco de Mayo (if you couldn't tell from the title lol) ex: a piece of clothing, food, & a list of some of my favorite songs in Spanish!
So let's start with the piece of clothing; a skirt. I fell in love with this skirt the moment i saw it & it wasn't getting away! Its so Latina (which i lovee) i love anything with a Spanish feel. It so fits my personality & it was only like $20.

I am a sucker for the kind of skirts (or dresses) that fan out when you spin. I know that's so little girl of me but i can't help it lol.

A close up on the print:

This is such a fiesta skirt!

Okay so now for the Cinco de Mayo healthiest food (in my opinion) AVOCADOS! These suckers are packed with Vitamin E, B, potassium, fiber, folic acid, and they are the 'good kind' of fat. Plus how delicious are they with Mexican food?? I love Mexican food & i could eat avocados daily. Now i am totally craving guacamole...

Next is my Spanish songs list, i listen to loads of Greek music but also a lot of Spanish because i love the language & i can speak an okay amount, anyway its beautiful music (& no i'm not talking Mariachi) Check it out & you'll see what i mean.

1. Llueve Por Dentro- Luis Fonsi

2. Por Amarte Asi- Ana Isabel & Cristian Castro

3. Gitano- Beyonce & Alejandro Fernandez

4. Quizas- Enrique Iglesias

5. El Beso del Final- Christina Aguilera

6. No Lo Digas Mas- Luis Fonsi

7. Lloro Por Ti- Enrique Iglesias

8. La Tortura- Shakira

9. La Loba- Shakira

10.Gitana- Shakira

11. Por El Amor- Ana Isabel

How bout something to really get you moving maybe to workout to:

1. Gasolina- Daddy Yankee

2. Ella Se Menea- Wisin y Yandel

3. Rakata- Wisin y Yandel

4. Sol Playa del Arena- Tito el Bambino

5. Sueltate- Tito el Bambino

6. El Amor- Tito el Bambino

So here is a lot to choose from i hope you guys will find one you like. And this concludes my short Cinco de Mayo post.

Photography & Some Randoms

Geia sas ladies! I just registered for fall classes today & i'm excited i got in all the ones i needed to. I can't wait until college is over & no more studying! But for now i am looking forward to summer!! I am such a warm weather girl i literally get mini depression on cold days. I live in the wrong state! But it was so nice outside yesterday that i thought i'd get some photography done. The orchid above was taken in Home Depot lol because i thought it was so beautiful. Anyway here are a few snap shots i took.

Dandelions are the sure sign of summer arriving! P.S. the dandelion greens are great in salads & smoothies (super healthy) my famliy has eaten them for probably thousands of years. (In Greece)

One of my 2 dogs; Louie. Isn't he a cutie posing for me? He is a Welsh Corgi-Golden Retriever mix, weird huh? Yes but he is adorable.

A tulip blowing in the wind. I took it turned to the other side but Blogger uploaded it weird so turn your head to the side & you'll see it better.

Bleeding Hearts are one of my favorite flowers; they are so strange but beautiful.

This was once again in Home Depot, lol i know its looking like i spend a lot of time taking pictures in Home Depot, i don't i just felt like i was in a jungle walking back there lol.

Strawberry flowers that will soon be berries! They grow in my yard & are so cute i have a better picture of one from last year that i will post at other time.

Look for a few reviews coming soon!

P.S. Here are 3 great giveaways i'm entering, check em out!

REVIEW: OUT OF SYNC (Gelderblom, 2010)

Peet Gelderblom is the immensely talented writer/artist behind the movie-loving comic Directorama, in which cinema's greatest dead film directors still call the shots in Heaven. And now, very much alive, of course, Gelderblom is himself venturing into filmmaking. His debut effort is a short called Out of Sync, and here's my review.

It’s the shapes, the rigid color palette, the horizontal lines
