Agadir Argan Oil Products Review

Today's review is on Agadir Argan Oil Products.
I'll start with the conditioner.
But first let me give you an introduction to Argan oil;
made from the kernals of the Argan tree in Morocco, Argan oil is very rich in vitamin E, carotenes, a& other nutrients. It is also used for dipping bread, on salads, & couscous.

Here is what Agadir says their product does:

Agadir Argan Oil Daily Moisturizing Conditioner is sulfate and paraben free with anti color fade for long, lasting hair color. It detangles, smoothes, shines and corrects dry, frizzy hair.

Protects against heat and chemical damage
The featherweight formula with protective sunscreen helps reair and strengthen damaged hair.

My thoughts:

-i definitely noticed that it both detangled & made my hair dry faster

-my hair does feel light after using

-it has a nice smell, not my favorite, but nice

-a little bit seems to go a long way, which is nice for me having very long, thick hair
-on Amazon (where i bought it) a customer described the smell as a 'spicy clean' & i think that's the perfect description of the smell

I don't have the shampoo right now but i bet the results are only better using it. It's hard to explain but immediately after rinsing hair starts to feel lightweight & drier. I paid around $13.

Now onto the 2nd product Agadir's Argan Oil Spray Treatment.

Agadir says;

This spray treatment is ideal for applying to longer hair lengths for ease in coverage, enabling protection from heat appliances and a smoother comb through.

Agadir Argan Oil Spray Treatment instantly repairs and adds elasticity to dry, damaged, frizzy hair.

It hydrates, conditions, smooths and shines.

My thoughts:

-use 2 sprays after a shower on wet-damp hair

-like the conditioner it makes your hair dry faster, i'd say this more than the conditioner

-add a small amount of shine, not as much as i was hoping for though

-smell is very similar to the conditioner's

-not messy at all, your hair/ hands never feel greasy

I paid around $16. I like these products over-all & would re-purchase!

Every 8 weeks, I visit my hairdresser Erik to get my roots relaxed. And for the next 4 weeks, my hair does whatever I want it to – and I revel in straight-haired bliss. Kiddie Cuts For A Cause

Matrix is hosting their first “Give Big” Cut-A-Thon for local New York children (ages 10 & under) at the Matrix Global Academy in the West Village on Sunday, March 2nd. This event will help raise funds to support the Elizabeth Glazer Pediatric AIDS Foundation’s fight to prevent pediatric HIV infection and to eradicate pediatric AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs.

A team of 20 expert Matrix stylists will be on-hand to provide kiddie cuts and trims for a cash donation of $20. As part of Matrix’s commitment to help make pediatric AIDS a thing of the past and give children hope for a brighter future – the company will match all consumer donations and provide an additional $20 per haircut to the Foundation. And, participants will receive a FREE VIP MATRIX product gift bag with any kiddie haircut.

The fun part is that kids will be entertained before, during and after their haircuts at designated interactive play stations complete with balloon artists, face painters, books and toys for all ages. There will also be surprise celebrity guest appearances.

Grammys 2008 Red Carpet. Yawn.

I was expecting to be blown away by the hair, makeup, and fashion on the Grammy red carpet. But instead, I’m under-whelmed.

The Grammys is the awards show where celebs traditionally turn up the volume and go all out; but this year was especially disappointing. The only one who seemed to take any kind of risk was Fantasia – but as you can see (above left), that turned out to be a hot mess.

Here’s a recap:
*Beyonce debuted a skunk do. I like the style, but the color gots to go.
*Rihanna’s hair looked so blah. But, thankfully, she fierce-ified it for her performance with The Time.
*Carrie Underwood and Miley Cyrus went a little overboard with the hair extensions.
*Alicia Keys was sporting a Mohawk-type updo that really didn’t translate to photos.
*Fergie’s hair ringlets looked touchably soft, but her style was a little safe.
*Faith Hill looked classically beautiful, as usual.
*And Nelly Furtado is still under the misapprehension that she looks good as a blonde.

Fortunately, the unremarkable red carpet was redeemed by Beyonce and Tina Turner, who shared the stage for a duet of Proud Mary.

Tina is my idol. At 68, she’s still got the moves…and the legs. I was breathless for the entire performance.

Fashion Week Part Deux: Thuy Fall 2008 Collection

I woke up on Saturday morning and headed to the Exit Art Building for the Thuy Fall 2008 Collection presentation. A presentation is different from a runway show, in that there’s no actual runway – just models strutting their stuff amongst us mere mortals. The show was very impromptu, which I really enjoyed. Though after waiting almost an hour, it began without warning (I attended with Amber and Marina – Marina was somewhere getting juice when the show finally began).

Romero Jennings, Head Makeup Artist for MAC, was responsible for the models’ ethereal eyes and lengthy lashes; he lined the inner rims with shimmery white pencil and applied a few coats of black mascara for definition. Jennings polished off the look with a strong matte mouth. Lips were lined and filled in with Brick Lip Pencil (intense golden red), then Brown Lipmix (a MAC Pro product) was applied on top of the pencil.

To balance the bold lip, Liam Carey, Senior Stylist for Ted Gibson, pin-curled the models’ hair. Then, keeping it soft, he styled tresses into dreamy side-ponys and updos*.

Amber, Marina, and I walked away from the Thuy show with a goodie bag filled with, well, goodies. Of the beauty treats, I am most excited to try Ted Gibson’s Beautiful Hold Hairspray; its fool-proof formula allows it to be layered depending on hair styling needs, and it has a sophisticated gardenia fragrance.

*Marina was so enamored with the models’ curly tresses, she accompanied me back to my hotel so she could use my T3 Medium Duality to re-create the look. Unfortunately, in the short period of time she had before her next appointment, she couldn’t figure out how to curl with the flat iron – so she straightened her hair instead. And it looked fabulous nonetheless.

Look at the models giving me face. I felt like Mario Testino.

In the February issue of Allure, a reader asks, “I want to wear my bangs to the side. How do I style them?”

Garren, the owner of the Garren New York salon at the Sherry-Netherland Hotel in NYC shares some words of wisdom. He writes:

Looser, softer bangs are in right now, and getting that effect is all in how you dry them. Part your hair when it’s damp, apply a conditioning spray (or a styling spray with very light hold), and sweep bangs to the side. Then let them air-dry almost fully; they’ll take direction better than if you started blow-drying when they were soaking wet. Use a large, round brush to pull the bangs down and to the side as you finish them with the blow-dryer – never pull forward; you’ll end up with a big bump. If you need to get ready quickly, blow-dry your hair most of the way, then sweep your bangs over and tuck them behind your ear so the effect will still be soft and natural.

Garren's advice isn't so helpful to brown girls like me (let my relaxed hair air-dry? neva eva). But for other hair types, he probably knows what he's talking about – so I thought I’d share.

What inspired her to make the cut? At the October photo shoot for Allure’s January 2008 cover, Allure’s Creative Director, Paul Cavaco, suggested that – for her next look – she channel old-school Linda Evangelista.

Looks like she took his advice.

Perhaps the crackhead chanteuse wanted to go a bit more incognito (good luck, with a 2-foot beehive) in the wake of her drug video. Or maybe it was last night’s episode of Project Runway that promped her to go back to black.

Biel Goes Blonde

Earlier today, the paparazzi snapped this photo of Jessica Biel - and her new flaxen do - at London's Heathrow airport. In just the last hour or so, this pic has been popping up all over the Internet - and everyone's weighing in on whether her haircolor is a hit or miss. But what baffles me is that no one has commented on her swollen upper lip - that sucker is huge!
