I told y’all that Amy Winehouse wouldn’t be blonde for very long. This morning, she debuted her darker do, just prior to entering a rehab facility.

Perhaps the crackhead chanteuse wanted to go a bit more incognito (good luck, with a 2-foot beehive) in the wake of her drug video. Or maybe it was last night’s episode of Project Runway that promped her to go back to black.

Team Fierce

I don’t post about Project Runway too often. Don’t get me wrong; I’ve got plenty of love for PR. I just fear that my beauty posts would be outnumbered. That’s how much I love the show.

Last night, the designers were placed in teams and told to create an avant-garde look based on their model's hairstyle. Then - as if this challenge wasn’t already challenging enough - Tim ‘make it work’ Gunn appears half way though the episode, to announce that each duo must also create a ready-to-wear look that compliments the first design.

Well, genius that he is, Christian led “Team Fierce” to victory – by transforming 40 yards of organza into 8 feet of fabulosity! Nina was hella impressed; as the dress came down the catwalk, she couldn’t conceal her delight. This week, the star of the show was – hands down – Christian and Chris’ garment. But, not to be outdone, the Tresemme and L’Oreal folks turned it out!

Whose hair and makeup reigned on the runway? I have an opinion. Do you?

Philadelphia Magazine recently had a chance to catch up with Jay McCarroll, Season 1 winner of Project Runway and Philly’s prodigal son (he’s back in town after a brief stint in NYC). Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

PM: Now, I know you’re watching Season 4 of Project Runway, because you’re blogging about it on Elle.com.

Jay: Yeah, it’s super fun. It’s hard blogging, which I had no idea about. I thought, Oh, it’ll take, like, 45 minutes of my day. But that turned into an entire day with editing and rewriting.

PM: Where are your favorite places in Philly to shop?

Jay: I go to all the thrift stores. I like to peek around at the little boutiques in Northern Liberties and 3rd Street. I love Lush cosmetics on Walnut. That’s probably my favorite store.
