Country Strong

My sister & i went to see Country Strong tonight & really liked it! Probably my favorite song from it was 'Give in to Me' sang by Garrett Hedlund & Leighton Meester. He is a really good actor & i love the way he looks at her in this video: (he just needs to shave ha)

He is so darn cute & seems like a decent person & not your typical Hollywood guy. I've watched some interviews with him & am impressed. I was a fan of him in the movie Troy as Achilles' cousin & in Four Brothers as well as Georgia Rule so i'm glad to see him get more lead roles. :)

Anyway good movie, if you like country go see it!

Leighton did a great job too! This is the kinda music she should sing.

The Ghost & Mr. Chicken, Chocolate Muffins, + Deigo!

I totally love Don Knotts movies so when
The Ghost & Mr. Chicken DVD
came in the mail today from Amazon.com i was super pumped!

For those of you who have never seen it (or worse yet never heard of Don Knotts!) its a hilarious movie made in 1966. Here is the description:

"Luther Heggs is a mild mannered typesetter just waiting to break out and show the world that he can be a reporter. When the nervous, shy, and loveable bug-eyed reporter wanna be is dared to spend the night in the old haunted Simmons mansion, he feels this is his chance. There are a lot of strange things that happen in this old house. People recount of hearing creepy organ music wondering if the unsolved murder victim is haunting the old house. The newspaper editor thinks it is a wonderful idea, and decides to give Luther the chance he has been dreaming about since the anniversary of the murder/suicide is approaching. When Luther spends the fated night, he barely makes it past midnight tearing from the house spouting tales of a ghost playing the organ, shears embedded in a portrait, and secret passage ways. When Luther tries to prove the events he experienced in the house, he ends up looking like a fool when they cannot be recreated. As he solves the mystery, he takes the whole audience along for the ride."

It's one i remember watching growing up & i introduced my best friend to his movies when we were teenagers & she fell in love with this movie too, so its an instant classic with us & my family.

Cleopatra: Jolie style

Geia sas! Okay ladies who's heard about the upcoming biopic about Cleopatra VII Queen of Egypt played by Angelina Jolie?

Now of course we've all seen/heard of the Elizabeth Taylor version from the 60's.

I really liked some of the costumes & jewelry in this movie.

Now they're is a bit of controversy surrounding the choice of Angelina; a few people are saying Cleopatra was black...what?! I'm saying to them do your homework people, she's descendant from a Macedonian general; making her Greek..& we are not black lol. Did i mention she spoke Greek as a 1st language? They think she was also mixed with some Egyptian blood. Again though the Egyptians weren't/aren't black.

And then there are those who just plain don't like her(Jolie) & don't think she will be a good Cleopatra, but i say look at her Olympias in Alexander. She did an excellent job in my opinion, she was the best in the movie for me (Colin Farrell was 2nd of course lol). I have faith in her. :]

*Notice the worry beads in her hand? My yiayia(grandma) has some that were her father's & i just love them.

This new Cleopatra movie is kind of a dream for me, its Egyptian meets Greek meets my favorite actress; love it! Let's just hope its good!

• Cleopatra means 'glory of the father' in Greek.
• She had a younger sister named Arsinoë; i think its such a cool name!

P.S. I heard Brad Pitt might be playing Antony?? What do you think, over the top or just right?

While we're on the subject of Egyptian check out this curule chair, which i guess means 'charriot chair' in Latin or something.

I have a similar zebra print one, but this one is awesome & i want it! But not for $200 :)
