ImagineFX #50

I kind of forgot to mention this..
Back in December 2009, The Brief Glimpse got the back cover for ImagineFX's 50th anniversary issue. It was supposed to be the front cover but Andrew Jones got it instead, damn, how can I fight with that? Lol! I'm still happy to be on the back though.

Birthday Dinner

Geia sas party people! Well if you're wondering what this wonderful looking dish is above its Basilikos Lasagna. Basilikos means basil in Greek. Which is probably one of the BEST dishes i've ever had in my life & it's made quite a few times a year in our home. Everyone who has ever tried it loved it. I'll post the recipe in a later post. We also had a salad & some fruit.

And as promised; BAKLAVA! This was my birthday 'cake' lol & did include candles just not in this picture. No one makes better baklava than my momma, she's a champ lol. My favorite part of baklava is that final bottom layer which is drenched in honey OMG the best.

Later my mom, my sister, & I went to see Sex & the City 2 instead of watching the Bachelorette. But don't worry today we curled up on the couch to watch the Bachelorette on the DVR; my favorite is Roberto!! He speaks Spanish, he dances salsa, he plays baseball, he has a sweet heart & adores his family...oh yeah & he's drop dead gorgeous!

Seriously if she doesn't pick him she's out of her mind, but then again he'll be free to call me LOL. My 2nd fav is Justin, though all the guys don't like him.

Anyone else watching?

Natural, Cheap, & Simple Exfoliant

Geia sas everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! Today i'll be telling you about a super easy & cheap exfoliant that i use from time to time. So you guessed it; it has coffee grounds!
-Mix coffee grounds & ex. virgin olive oil
Then massage into the skin; body, face, or both. It's really a double bonus because not only does it exfoliate well but the olive oil keeps the skin moisturized & its incredibly smooth afterwards.
Another version is adding cinnamon & brown sugar to the mix, which smells amazing!
Another extra bonus of using coffee grounds is that its suppose to help with cellulite, the caffeine helps redistribute the fat cells. Also varicose veins can be diminished due to the caffeine acting as a vascular constrictor shrinking the blood vessels.

You would want to wash off your makeup first just like with any other exfoliator. Your skin will feel very smooth after because the dead skin will be gone but a thin layer of oil stays on the skin because as you know water doesn't remove oil. If this bothers you, you can take some of your usual facial cleanser & lightly wash it again.

I recommend it if you're running a little low on the cash or just want to get away from all the additives in products. I have a few more at home 'recipes' for skin care that i'll share in a later post. But for now enjoy!
Let me know if you have any at home exfoliants!

Raspberry Leaf Tea

Geia sas lovely ladies! Today we're going to be talking about raspberry leaf tea & its health benefits. Let me first say that i can rarely drink hot tea without majorly sweetening it, when i was little i so badly wanted to like it just for the fact that tea parties aren't fun without tea lol.

So my aunt told my mom about this tea & said that its really something every woman should be drinking everyday. It is really good for the female system & helps with menstruation. I've heard its suppose to help with bad cramps but i wouldn't know because i don't usually have bad cramping. Its also loaded with vitamins!
Here's a little blurb about it:
"In pregnancy it was traditionally used to help with nausea, ease labor and delivery, and post- partum recovery. It is also helpful for regulating menstrual period and controlling diarrhea. "

It tones the uterus & improves contractions. It is said to help fertility also.

So these are pretty good benefits if you ask me. However like i said i have a hard time drinking hot tea. So what i do it boil water, pour it in a tall thermos, add 6 tea bags, close the lid, & let sit until cooled. Then i put it in the refrigerator to store & serve as iced tea. (my 'method' is farther down)

This is the brand i use, its the only one i've ever tried. I got it at PicknSave.

I have to say this tea still tastes pretty bad on its own cold or hot.

Method:

in a cup place a few ice cubes

add 1 drop of Stevia & some honey (i can go w/o the Stevia for more honey)

i like it with cut up strawberries or raspberries in it

then pour the tea over it & stir.

Now after some doctoring up it tastes pretty great! Nothing like ice cold sweet tea on a hot day. I encourage all you ladies to try it for your health.

So on that note Stin igeia mas(to our health)!

Loving June; Birthday, World Cup, Yoga, & more

Geia sas!! So it's officially June; my favorite month! They say your favorite month is usually your birthday month, well i don't know about that but mine is for sure! My birthday is June 7th & i'm excited, though i'm sure in a few years i'll stop being so happy about it lol. (but i hope not!)

Also this month is the FIFA World Cup; June 11th. Now i must tell you i am a hugeee Cristiano Ronaldo (CR7/CR9 )fan, who usually plays for Spain's Real Madrid but for the World Cup since he IS Portuguese he plays for Portugal under # 7. (His # in Real Madrid is 9)

So the 3 teams i'll be watching are Portugal, Greece, & USA. (Though i fear our beloved USA won't win let's hope they get far!)

So another player i'm a fan of is Mixalis Sifakis, who will be on Greece's national team as goalkeeper & normally plays for Aris Thessaloniki. So here are a few pictures of them in action to represent the occasion.

I couldn't resist this one lol *insert cheesy grin*

Now onto yoga! This month i am working really hard on doing more of my yoga so to celebrate that here is a yoga pose i enjoy. This is Sphinx pose & its very relaxing i find & gives you a nice stretch. It is of course called Sphinx because you lay like a Sphinx, observe:
There are so many more great things about June that i'm looking forward to, like swimming & volleyball. Just being able to relax from college & knowing it's just the beginning of summer is really nice too!

Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of the week everyone!
Let me know who you want to win the World Cup or something you love about June!
