Fashion Update: New Tops!

Geia sas my dears! Yesterday i went to Marshall's with my mom & she bought me two tops that i really like. I was just having a really bad day & the shorts i had on had a hole in em & i was blahhhh & felt very unsociable so my moms like "Let's just run into Marshall's & do a little shopping", soo we did & i felt a little better after. I love my mom!

This top i thought was really interesting but totally something i would wear, my favorite part is that its connected near the bottom. I also really liked the cowl neck. By the way the stripes are actually blue but they look black here. It was $9.99.

This one i really like because of the sort of abstract design(its a little rocker) on it as well as the color. I like that its thin material (practically see through) for this hot weather.

Here's an up-close, it was $12.99 as you can kinda see from the tag.
I'd say my sense of style is a range of things, but that's what i really love; an eclectic mix of stuff.

Happy almost August!(in a less than an hour!)

Cherry Tomato Salad

Geia sas! So i found a super yummy looking recipe that i plan to try out but i wanted to share because how great does this look?!

This is by Annies Eats on foodbuzz.com

Ingredients:
2 pints ripe cherry tomatoes, quartered (about 4 cups)*
¼ tsp. salt
½ tsp. sugar
2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
½ tsp. dried oregano
1 medium shallot, minced
1 tbsp. red wine vinegar
2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
Ground black pepper
1 small cucumber, peeled, seeded and diced into ½-inch chunks
4 oz. feta cheese, crumbled (about 1 cup)
1-2 tbsp. fresh parsley, minced

*Halved grape tomatoes would also work
Directions:
Combine the tomatoes, salt and sugar in a medium bowl; toss to combine. Let stand for 30 minutes. Transfer the mixture to a salad spinner and spin until the seeds and excess liquid have been removed, about 1 minute. Stir to redistribute the tomatoes during spinning as needed. Return the tomatoes to the bowl and set aside. (If you don’t have a salad spinner, put the tomatoes in a bowl, cover tightly with plastic wrap and gently shake the bowl to remove the excess seeds and liquid.) Strain the tomato liquid through a fine mesh strainer into a liquid measuring cup, pressing to extract as much liquid as possible.

Combine ½ cup of the tomato liquid with the garlic, oregano, shallot and vinegar in a small saucepan set over medium heat. Simmer until the mixture is reduced, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature. Whisk in the oil, and season with pepper to taste.
Add the cucumber, feta, dressing and parsley to the bowl with the tomatoes. Toss gently and serve.

Foundation Review: Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle

Geia sas girlies!
It's time for a foundation review; Peter Thomas Roth: Un-Wrinkle Foundation with SPF 20.

I have it in Tan, HERE are the colors they have. Now this is the most expensive foundation i've ever bought retailing for $45, but i bough it on ebay for $39; still expensive in my opinion. I originally discovered this foundation through a sample Sephora sent me, it was a sample including all 4 colors they offer. The tan fit me the best & gave me decent coverage, so i bought it.

Something you may have noticed is that this foundation is called 'Un-Wrinkle' & no i do not have wrinkles but i liked the sample i had so i didn't even think about that part. Do i think it would be good for someone with wrinkles? Not particularly, just because it tends to show creases of your skin a bit if you don't blend well or wear a primer. And that's another thing about this, you must blend well(more than my previous foundation) or it tends to show.
I really like that this foundation has SPF 20 in it, which leads me to the smell; its definitely a somewhat sunscreen smell. Luckily i don't mind that smell. I also really like that it is oil-free especially with my skin being acne prone i don't want something that will clog my pores.
Over-all its a decent foundation but the price would probably keep me from buying again.

Zumba, Royalty on flickr, & Real Madrid in the USA!

Geia sas chicas! So i'm sure most people have heard of Zumba by now, but in case you haven't its a Latin dance infused workout that is pretty awesome! HERE is a video of a class. I have only ever done it from videos but i'd love to go to a class, i love that the dances are fun & i love that its dancing to Latin music! It's definitely a fantastic workout!
Oh & speaking of Latin music the song Siempre Tu by Diego Boneta is amazing, its mostly in English.
Now i thought this was interesting; the British Monarchy has joined flickr. Sharing pictures of the queen, princesses, princes, varies duchesses, oh & whatever a countess is. If you're wanting to see the pictures HERE they are.

So it's just about August & to keep me from dreading the start of school there are a few things happening in August that'll actually be enjoyable. For instance Real Madrid has officially landed in the US, we know this  via Crisiano Ronaldo's facebook post. They are here for two games, 1st Aug. 4th vs. Club America, & Aug. 7th vs. LA Galaxy. Looking forward to those games, wish i could go! Then there is also Taste of Greece in Chicago to look forward to, its the 27, 28, & 29th i believe.

Oh & also before i go to bed i did want to mention THIS website has a beauty blog directory they are putting together, they invited me to join so if you have a blog you want them to add check it out.

Cleopatra: Jolie style

Geia sas! Okay ladies who's heard about the upcoming biopic about Cleopatra VII Queen of Egypt played by Angelina Jolie?

Now of course we've all seen/heard of the Elizabeth Taylor version from the 60's.
I really liked some of the costumes & jewelry in this movie.
Now they're is a bit of controversy surrounding the choice of Angelina; a few people are saying Cleopatra was black...what?! I'm saying to them do your homework people, she's descendant from a Macedonian general; making her Greek..& we are not black lol. Did i mention she spoke Greek as a 1st language? They think she was also mixed with some Egyptian blood. Again though the Egyptians weren't/aren't black.
And then there are those who just plain don't like her(Jolie) & don't think she will be a good Cleopatra, but i say look at her Olympias in Alexander. She did an excellent job in my opinion, she was the best in the movie for me (Colin Farrell was 2nd of course lol). I have faith in her. :]
*Notice the worry beads in her hand? My yiayia(grandma) has some that were her father's & i just love them.
This new Cleopatra movie is kind of a dream for me, its Egyptian meets Greek meets my favorite actress; love it! Let's just hope its good!
Name info:
  • Cleopatra means 'glory of the father' in Greek.
  • She had a younger sister named Arsinoë; i think its such a cool name!

P.S. I heard Brad Pitt might be playing Antony?? What do you think, over the top or just right?
While we're on the subject of Egyptian check out this curule chair, which i guess means 'charriot chair' in Latin or something.
I have a similar zebra print one, but this one is awesome & i want it! But not for $200 :)

eos Lip Balm Review

Geia sas girlies! Its been a bit since i've done a review & the nice people at eos 'the evolution of smooth' sent me two lip balms to review.

1st is the smooth stick lip balm in Pomegranate Raspberry, check out what is & isn't in it:
•Shea butter & vitamin E
•Gluten-free
•Paraben-free
•Petrolatum-free
•Phthalate-free
It's also 95% organic & 100% natural, gotta love that!
I loved their directions: Pucker up. Smooth on. Smile.

The first thing i noticed about this product when i opened it was its packaging has a slightly rubbery outer layer which i thought was kinda cool.
I also noticed the indent at the top that makes it easy to close. When i applied the lip balm it was ultra moisturizing and had a nice smell. The balm itself it kind of large so it does go over your lips a bit, now i have full lips so it wasn't too bad for me but my mom, who i let try it out, has thin lips & it went over hers quite a bit, but its not a big deal, if anything i would recommend this for right before you go to bed at night. When you wake up they feel great! That's how i've been using it, & i have to say that it's probably the most moisturizing lip balm i've ever used.
Next up is the smooth sphere lip balm in Sweet Mint, again its natural & 95% organic, & is free of those all those nasty things like parabens, it has:

  • Shea butter & vitamin E
  • jojoba oil

Okay, are these things not the cutest ever?! I fell in love just looking at it, then in all my excitement trying to get the cap off, i couldn't. I was pulling & wondering what was wrong...but if i would only have read the package before opening i would have known it twists off, not pulls lol. So when i applied it i was very happy, it was definitely not as creamy (for lack of a better word) as the lip balm stick, but it was very nice & i loved the mint & how my lips had a slight tingle from it. I also like that people look at you & are like 'what IS that??' lol. It is really moisturizing too just different from the stick. All i can say is i just love this!
I highly recommend these products, especially the sphere! I was very impressed & the people at eos were so nice & helpful too!

*i was not paid for this review, all thought are completely honest & my own.

36 color additions to my gallery of 200 screen images! This far in, I strangely feel myself getting way more personal in my choices. There might be what're considered SPOILERS here. By the way, I'll tag five more film bloggers--as is my requirement--at the end of Part 6 in a few days. Arriving at 140 images this time, here we have: At the movies, a man seems to thank God for his true love in

Dear Diary..Bootcamp, School, & more

Geia sas, today was a long and draining day for me; we saw my older brother off for Army bootcamp. It started early this morning when my mom & i went to the building where they are sworn in & wait to leave. So we got there at 8:40a.m. & saw my brother, then we waited for about 2hrs before they were sworn in & then back to waiting again. We talked to 2 other families & i did a lot of blank staring at Sports Center on ESPN(which btw was the most boring thing ever..& i LIKE sports!).
We sat for about another 2hrs before they called all the Army & Marine recruits to a briefing, & there was one young man left that was going in the Navy & he was sitting all by himself(side note;he looked just like Josh Hartnett) & i didn't see him talk to anyone the whole time & just as i was going to talk to him my mom called me to come over by her. I never took the chance to talk to him & i felt bad the whole ride to the airport, don't you just hate when that happens, you wish you would'ev done something but you didn't & now you feel guilty & just blahh. Well we finally left the airport at 2p.m. & went to a Mexican restaurant. This is really hard for my mom especially.
Tomorrow i have a meeting with a different college that i may possibly go to for my sonography, the only thing is they are really expensive & i'm not sure if i can work everything out, i'm just praying that everything will work out the way i need it to.
Also, I've been so wanting to move to Texas, especially when my mom pulled up small ranch for sale near Austin. We have considered it & i really want to but i'm doubting that it will happen just because its a pretty far move & i doubt my mom would end up going through with it. ..*sigh* oh well maybe someday...

On a happier note Cristiano Ronaldo posted a few of his vacation pictures on Facebook, so i'll share his wonderfulness :]

Ah now that's the life Cristiano, glad you enjoyed your vacation so now we can get back to business & win some matches!

Today i wore my American Indian shirt & showed a little Native pride :)
I love dangling earrings!
My sorta braid, my hair looks kinda lighter here, hmm

A Cinema Gallery: 200 Images, Part 2

As promised, another 36 images of the 200 I've picked to exemplify great movie visage. This time, instead of trying to construct a narrative, I'm concentrating on color, trying to capture your eye. This'll make 69 of a promised 200. So here we go: Bob Dylan makes another mark via electricity in Eat The Document. (Bob Dylan, 71; PHOTOG: Howard Alk) One loser loses again, this morning at a

A Cinema Gallery: 200 Images, Part 1

I visited Ed Howard's lovely Only the Cinema the other day, and saw he'd been tagged in a meme by MovieMan at The Dancing Image. This meme, conversely started by Stephen at Checking On My Sausages, calls for film bloggers to create authentic screen captures from movie moments they felt best exemplified the visual magic of cinema. And even though I wasn't tagged by Ed (who had some nicely steamy

THE SOCIAL NETWORK trailer is so damn good, it might make you cry with anticipation

I rarely post new trailers on filmicability. In fact, only the one for Inglourious Basterds predates this. But the new preview for David Fincher's upcoming Facebook epic qualifies almost as a film unto itself; it does what every preview wants to do but can't, because it's too busy trying to shock you with flashes, booms, and dynamic changes. Feeling that Fincher himself may have overseen this

25 Questions..tag?

Geia sas chicanitas! Today i'm doing a 25 Q tag i guess, i found this on another blog & thought i'd do it. P.S. you guys are all 'tagged' lol anyone who wants to feel free to consider yourself tagged.
1. Do you apply your foundation with a brush, sponge, or fingers?
I apply with a brush & occasionally my fingers, typically i use my E.l.f. Powder brush for application.

2. Do you apply your eyeshadow from light to dark? or dark to light?
Light to dark, i think.
3. Do you prime your eyes?
Sometimes but not everyday, when i do i use Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden.
4. Concealer first, or after foundation?
I apply before just because i never liked doing it after.

5. Go for manicures, or manicure yourself?
I do them myself. Too much $$ otherwise & i need to saveee.

6. Exfoliate lips, face or both?
Both, face more frequently though.
7. On average, how long does it take you to do your makeup?
7-12 mins. i would say.

Noo, i only wear it 1-3 times a week during the summer, but when i'm in school i wear a little every weekday.
9. What release are you most excited about? (Makeup)
Hmm idk but i do want to try Revlon Photo Ready foundation.
10. What's your weakness? Shoes, purses, clothes, jewelry, eyeshadow, lipstick or other?

I'm currently using a Stila matte bronzer.

14. False lashes, or natural?
Natural, i own a pair of false but never tried them out

I'd have to say NARS, but i like a lot of different mish-mash of products.

16. Liquid eyeliner, pencil or gel?
Liquid & gel.

17. Lipstick, lipgloss or chapstick?
All of them duh! I use chapstick most, then gloss, then stick.

18. Pigments, pressed or cream eyeshadow?
Cream shadows, pressed, then pigments.
19. If you had to wear only one thing, excluding foundation; what would it be?
Bronzer maybe.

20. Favorite color?
Green, but if we're talking makeup i love the naturals for color.

21. Favorite color combination?
Hmm gold & cream, gold & black, pink & grey...green & gold (go Packers haha).

22. Natural? or Dramatic? (Eye Makeup)
Natural

23. Do you care more for quality or name brand?
Quality.

24. Do you enjoy using face masks? If so which ones
Umm i've tried a lot so i don't have a specific right now.

25. What is your current addiction? (example: lipsticks, eyeshadows, earrings..)
Probably anything new i get is always my addiction, i've been loving certain lipstick lately though, i'll do a review on it soon.

Totally unrelated but look how gorgeous Blake Lively looks as a brunette!
This is for the new movie 'Green Lantern', she looks stunning & should never touch blonde again!

Also i just watched this 'JLovesMac1' YouTube video, this girl makes me burst out laughing, & i totally agree with her about the whole clubbing thing lol, check it out HERE.

Okay, as an avid New Yorker and a pretty heavy Star Wars fan (you know...the first...I mean...LAST three), this for me is a magical confluence, courtesy of the roaming Improv Everywhere troupe! I adore those knowing subway riders, who're extremely adept at improv themselves. The one cutaway to the dreamy young lovers is a favored highlight, as are the detail-oriented soft-focus shots of the

They're baaaaack! Nolanheads on the Rampage!!!

The Christopher Nolan fans are at it again, ready to tear established writers to shreds for not totally giving themselves over, body and soul, to the movie their man has made. And while I'm for fandom, I'm not for blind faith. Even Kubrick--whose name is being bandied about in connection with Inception--had one semi-flop with Killer's Kiss. Anyway, what I'm talking about here is the vitriol
